The term “Law & Development” (L&D) refers to the scientific examination of legal issues in development policy. Both Law and Economics scholars have long been concerned with the question of the significance of public law and private law in the context of development processes; the contribution of international law and transnational law to the shaping of North-South relations is also examined under this heading.
