This project aims at comparing the different legal mechanisms which are used to implement the rights-based approach-principles “participation” and “accountability” in the context of health sector reforms in South-/Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. On the basis of a comparative law analysis of the participation regime and relevant organizational regulations of two sample countries (Ghana and Indonesia), we will look for cross-national similarities and differences regarding the implementation of these mechanisms. Moreover, it will be considered whether the findings of comparative law can also be fruitful for health system reform processes in other developing or newly industrializing countries.
The 3-year-project is funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
